A staggering two million people in U.K at risk of Type 2 diabetes due to Obesity

The issue of obesity has become an issue of serious concern for the British people as they face the risk of type 2 diabetes due to a condition of sugar level in the body increasing rapidly.

Obesity is a medical condition where body fat increases to an extreme level which affects an individual’s health. The problem of obesity is on the rise globally due to people preferring junk or convenience food, especially teens and young population is facing this condition today. Risk of Type 2 diabetes has also increased among obese people. Type 2 diabetes is a condition where, there is lack of insulin and the level of blood sugar rises in the body.

According to the National Health Service (NHS) U.K, the number of people who have non-diabetic hyperglycemia is around 19,69,610 due to which they face a risk of type 2 diabetes. The NHS has linked this risk to the issue of obesity the British people are facing today. As obese people tend to eat more and also prefer junk food which has high level of calories from fat or sugar. The NHS claimed that among every six beds in hospitals, one bed had a diabetes patient. As per the NHS survey, last year more than a million cases of obesity were diagnosed in hospitals as the number has been increasing gradually. The National Health Services has doubled its capacity to fight this alarming issue thereby creating an awareness about healthy lifestyle and being active in the first place to prevent this life threatening issue.
