Align Clinical CRO has been joined by CMIC Group, which is a life science industry standards group devoted to creating open tech standards that make it easier for contract research organizations and sponsors to work together during trials. CMIC is the first-ever Japan-based CRO which joined the group, bringing over 25 years of clinical trial operational expertise & solution provider experience in Asia.
CMIC has joined forces with prominent CROs partners to enhance execution & collaboration with life sciences firms during trials. With end-to-end solutions from drug development to manufacturing from preclinical to clinical, and from filing to post-marketing scrutiny, CMIC is a long-term partner to help sponsors develop better medicine faster.
The President & Chief Operating Officer at CMIC Holdings, Keiko Oishi stated that the global healthcare industry is going through substantial change. The qualification requirements and types of service requests are changing, the number of global trials is growing, and study designs are more complex. As a member of Align Clinical CRO, CMIC is dedicated to helping the industry increase efficiency, cut operational costs, and run clinical trials more proficiently.
CMIC Group was the first-ever firm to provide CRO (contract research organization) services in Japan. When the group was first established relevant laws & rules had not been established. Mr. Kazuo Nakamura formed the CRO Study Group which later became the Japan CRO Association. Nakamura is now the current Chief Executive Officer of CMIC Group, and others to conduct public relations & promotion activities and to negotiate with the authorities for the establishment of CROs in Japan.
Far ahead, in 1997, when the new Good Clinical Practice regulations came into force, CROs gained legal ground for the first time, and from then onwards the demands for CRO services have rapidly increased.
