EU Clears On-X Ascending Aortic Prosthesis

HIGHLIGHTS

  • CryoLife has won the EU regulatory clearance for the On-X Ascending Aortic Prosthesis.
  • On-X Ascending Aortic Prosthesis can treat aortic valves.

Based in Kennesaw, Georgia, CryoLife has won the European Union (EU) regulatory clearance for the On-X Ascending Aortic Prosthesis (AAP). AAP is a treatment option for people with poorly functioning aortic valves with a nearby ascending aortic aneurysm.

The device combines a prosthetic valve and an ascending aortic prosthesis. It can be implanted to address damaged, injured, or malfunctioning native or prosthetic valves. The valve of the On-X is made of pure pyrolitic carbon. Pyrolitic carbon is a thromboresistant material that is impressively strong. The On-X has been designed to reduce turbulence and behave more like a healthy native valve.

Other features

The On-X Ascending Aortic Prosthesis comes with Vascutek Gelweave Valsalva Graft. This is the only valve/graft combination to offer a generous Polytetrafluoroethylene 2 (PTFE2), 3 sewing ring for ease of suturing. It also offers the first coated valsalva graft for optimal coronary ostia reimplantation.
